What Is Gainful Employment?

Gainful Employment provisions were enacted to ensure that students receiving federal student aid in applicable programs could learn about how those programs will lead to what the regulations define as Gainful Employment. These regulations are part of a larger initiative to ensure the integrity of the federal student financial aid programs. The Federal Student Aid office of the U.S. Department of Education provides detailed information.

On June 30, 2012, the U.S. Department of Education received a court ruling in a legal challenge that affected the implementation of the Gainful Employment (GE) regulations. On March 19, 2013, the court issued a decision that denied a request from the department to reinstate certain GE provisions, including the reporting requirements. That decision does not affect the GE disclosure requirements for institutions.

Final regulations published in the Federal Register on October 29, 2010, require institutions to report certain information about students who enrolled in Federal Student Financial Aid (Title IV of the Higher Education Act) eligible educational programs that lead to gainful employment in a recognized occupation (called GE programs). Those regulations also provide that institutions must disclose to prospective students certain information about the institution's GE Programs. Such information is provided below for all PTTI applicable programs of study.

Citizenship & Voting

Citizenship and Community Membership: Philadelphia Technician Training Institute encourages our students to be active participants in the American political system as a part of being responsible members of their community.

The Importance of Voting: Perhaps the simplest and most effective way to participate in our society is to be an informed, participating voter. PTT students are strongly encouraged to register and to vote in State and federal elections.

To register to vote in Pennsylvania, you must be:

  1. A citizen of the United States for at least one month before the next primary, special, municipal, or general election.
  2. A resident of Pennsylvania and the election district in which you want to register and vote for at least 30 days before the next primary, special, municipal, or general election.
  3. At least 18 years of age on or before the day of the next primary, special, municipal, or general election.

Once you have registered to vote, you are not required to register again unless you change your residence address, name, or political party affiliation.

Constitution Day: Each year, PTT celebrates "Constitution Day" on September 17 and offers activities to educate our students about the U.S. system of government and their individual role within it. We believe that in order for PTT to be a responsible part of our community, we should teach our students to do the same.

Manufacturing and Automation: Our students are trained to become super electricians at a higher level. Manufacturing technicians at our school not only learning electrical wiring code, run wires, install panels, etc. but they also know how to maintain high speed and ultra-high-speed manufacturing machines. Our teachers are industry engineers and skilled electricians with extensive learning and experience. They'll train you to work with advanced manufacturing equipment like robotics, advanced computer controls, single and three phase wiring, hydraulics, and more. You will receive certifications in safety, electrical code, installation of all types of wiring, computer controls, workplace math and communication instruction, and best of all, career placement! You will be able to fix equipment, diagnosis and repair machinery and if you want, become your own contractor.
Automotive Training & Repair Technician: By the program's end, our automotive students are trained to maintain, repair, and trouble-shoot cars and trucks. You'll train to repair engines, breaks, alignments, axles and so much more! You will also learn how to diagnosis most common electrical vehicle failures in both cars and light trucks.Technician Training: Today's leading repair garages look more like computer labs than auto repair shops. We will educate and train you to use computers to diagnose and solve engine and alignment problems.
