Citizenship & Voting
Citizenship and Community Membership:
Philadelphia Technician Training Institute encourages our students to be active participants in the American political system as a part of being responsible members of their community.
The Importance of Voting:
Perhaps the simplest and most effective way to participate in our society is to be an informed, participating voter. PTT students are strongly encouraged to register and to vote in State and federal elections.
Voter Registration information for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania can be found at: http://www.votespa.com/portal/server.pt/community/home/13514
To register to vote in Pennsylvania, you must be:
- A citizen of the United States for at least one month before the next primary, special, municipal, or general election.
- A resident of Pennsylvania and the election district in which you want to register and vote for at least 30 days before the next primary, special, municipal, or general election.
- At least 18 years of age on or before the day of the next primary, special, municipal, or general election.
Once you have registered to vote, you are not required to register again unless you change your residence address, name, or political party affiliation.
Each year, PTT celebrates "Constitution Day" on September 17 and offers activities to educate our students about the U.S. system of government and their individual role within it. We believe that in order for PTT to be a responsible part of our community, we should teach our students to do the same.
